A NOTE FROM THE LEAD NET DOG

Networking Your Way to Business Success

Running a successful business used to be dependent on what you knew. Then, who you knew became important. In today's economy, it is far more critical to what extent you know someone. So it's not what you know or who you know, but how well you know them that really  determines the amount of business that can be generated by a contact.
Networking is the process of meeting people (also known as contacts), either through a contact that you initiate or through an introduction  by a third party. Networking allows you to meet, and establish a relationship with people who may not have heard of your business through any other means.
Like the name implies, this is work! It's not called Net-sit, Net-talk, or Net-eat. It's Net-work!! In order to make it productive for you, you need to learn the proper way to do it. There are some important steps to follow for successful networking:

Pick Your Functions To Attend

Business people like to associate with other business people, so attend functions where these types of people will be. Pick those functions carefully. Make sure that the purpose of the function is to promote business and not just to socialize. Chambers of Commerce gatherings, trade shows, and networking organizations are excellent sources of business leads. The people who attend these are there for the same reason you are - to meet new people and to develop new business relationships. Social functions are fun and relaxing, but a person trying to do business or make contacts, could be very disappointed.

Be Prepared

Dress appropriately - you are a representation of the type of work that you do. First impression advertising can make you the most money or be the most expensive advertising you will ever invest in if it causes you to lose business. Always have a supply of business cards on you at all times. I know a man who met a prospective client from a large company while swimming in a pool in a hotel in San Antonio Texas, while on vacation. He landed an account with the firm when he produced a business card (laminated of course), from his swimming trunks.

Make a Good Presentation

Remember that you know more about your business than your prospective client needs to on a first meeting. Save the details of your product or service for a second meeting unless specifically asked about them by the prospect. If you overwhelm them with information, you may never have a chance to determine how you can help them with a problem they may have. The key to successful businesses is in solving problems for clients in a fair, efficient and cost effective way.

Mining for Referrals

All-important referrals come from happy clients. A referral from a client is a reflection of their judgement as well as a compliment to you and your product or service. Be sure to send out "Thank You" cards to people who refer you business. Thank them for the opportunity to service their acquaintances and to perhaps help them in the future,  as well. Networking is done at any time of day - morning , noon and night. One of the nicest benefits is the friendships you can make while pursuing common goals.
Keep these points in the back of your mind all the time!

TECHIE SECTION........

Registering Your Domain Name---New Rules!   Karee L. Vaughn

You may now have a website domain name (yourcompany.com) with up to 67 characters. Names used to be limited to 23 characters.

Why the change?
To keep up with the ever-growing demand of Internet growth.

What does this mean to me?
Register a better name than what you now have. Perhaps you had to settle for a domain name that really didn't match your business due to unavailability. You may need a long domain for your business name. You can use your company jingle as a domain name. You can list your site's keywords as your domain name. This is especially helpful with ranking higher in search engines.

Currently, sites where you may register your name are not all set up for the  new longer domain names. A list of ICANN-accredited registration firms may be found at: <http://www.internic.net/regist.html>

One such site that is able to register your site with the new rules is www.Register.com <http://www.Register.com>, but you may experience a delay as the initial grab for names has begun.

At only $60 ($30 per year) for registration, sign up for your business name .com now!

GRAPE SEED EXTRACT - Procyanidolic Oligomers (PCO)
"The most potent preventative medicine you can take"
By  Dr. Clark Hansen N.M.D.

INTRODUCTION

Expensive, high-powered drugs have failed to reduce the incidence of the major killer diseases such as heart disease, cancer, strokes, and diabetes.  There is an ever-growing movement back to nature in the search for cures for these chronic degenerative diseases.

The human body possesses the phenomenal, inherent ability to heal itself.  There are powerful healing elements in herbs and foods that work in harmony with the body to enhance the healing process.  Too often these elements are overlooked.

Grape seeds contain a remarkable bioflavonoid complex (PCO), which was recently discovered to be 20 times more potent than vitamin C and 50 times more potent than vitamin E as an antioxidant.  It has also been found to be anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, and antimutagenic.  It is the most remarkable nutrient discovery of the last century.

Bioflavonoids are natural plant components that strengthen and protect living tissue.  PCO is perhaps the most potent bioflavonoid of them all.

Bioflavonoids are so essential they could be considered vitamins, because our bodies cannot make them and we cannot survive without them.  They function as antioxidants like vitamins C, E, and Beta Carotene.  Additionally, they strengthen connective tissue, the network of collagen and elastin that holds everything in the body together.

As a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, I am amazed by this simple natural extract, mostly harvested from the seeds of grapes.  It has been used in France since 1950 and proven as safe as it is effective.  I have used it extensively in my practice with dramatic results.  It is effective in the treatment of arthritis, allergies, hardening of the arteries, ulcers, wrinkling of the skin, cellulite, brown spots, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, gum disease, as well as the prevention of cancer, strokes, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes, and more.

WHICH PCO SOURCE IS THE BEST?

PCO is virtually the same whether derived from pine bark, grape seeds, lemon tree bark, cranberries, or hazel nut tree leaves.  Though each plant source has varying amounts of unique bioflavonoids and other plant molecules, PCO is the effective active ingredient in all of these sources.  The main difference is in the varying concentration of the different sources.  Grape seed extract yields the highest concentration of any known source, at 95%.  This is 10% higher than the yield obtained from pine bark, the next closest source. In France, where both pine bark and grape seed extracts have been used for decades, grape seed extract outsells pine bark 130 to 1.

FREE RADICALS & ANTIOXIDANTS

In 1986, Dr. Masquelier made perhaps his greatest discovery ever.  He discovered that PCO has an intense, free-radical scavenging effect.  Free radicals are produced from normal oxygen metabolism within the body and from exposure to certain chemicals, environmental pollutants, sunlight, radiation, burns, cigarette smoke, drugs, alcohol, viruses, bacteria, parasites, dietary fats, and more.

Free radicals destroy cell membranes, damage collagen and other connective tissues, disrupt important physiological processes, and create mutations in the DNA of cells.  Free radicals have been implicated in more than sixty diseases, including heart disease, hardening of the arteries, arthritis, Alzheimer's disease, cataracts, and cancer.

THE SECRET OF YOUTHFULNESS

As we age, the body's inherent production of antioxidant enzymes decreases.  Skin becomes leathery and wrinkled.  Arteries lose their elasticity.  Joints and cartilage stiffen.  Vision becomes cloudy.  The spine becomes stooped.  Every part of the body gradually deteriorates.  Antioxidants can deactivate free radicals and stop the cellular and tissue damage they cause.  Adding PCO to the daily diet can dramatically retard the aging process, while protecting connective tissues from free radical damage.

KEEPING CONNECTIVE TISSUE SUPPLE

Studies have demonstrated that PCO has a selective affinity for connective tissue.  PCO protects them from oxidation and inflammatory damage.  PCO protects connective tissue from the collagen-destroying enzymes collagenase and elastase.  When combined with Vitamin C, PCO creates a favorable environment for the biosynthesis of new collagen and elastin.

THERAPEUTIC ACTIONS OF PCO

PCO was first used therapeutically in France more than 45 years ago to treat blood vessel disorders.  It has proven to be very effective in the treatment of bruises, varicose veins, spider veins, phlebitis, purpurea and leg ulcers.

PCO selectively binds to the connective tissue of joints, preventing swelling, helping heal damaged tissue, and lessening pain.  I have seen remarkable results in treating osteoarthritis, rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis with PCO.

Anti-Histamine Action

The anti-histamine action of PCO is mediated by an inhibiting effect of the enzyme histidine decarboxylase which is responsible for the production of histamine.  This is enhanced by PCO's ability to block hyaluronidase, the enzyme that facilitates the release of histamine into body tissues.

Anti-Allergic Action

PCO produces potent antiallergic actions.  I have used grape seed extract with dramatic results in my practice to treat severely allergic patients.  PCO does not cause drowsiness or mental dullness.

Anti-Ulcer Action

PCO's help heal ulcers by reducing histamine secretion and by binding to and protecting connective tissue in mucous membranes.

Anti-ulcer drugs do not cure the ulcerations.  They only block stomach acid production, leading to poor digestion and poor assimilation of nutrients.  PCO has been shown to heal both gastric and duodenal ulcers, whether spontaneous or caused by aspirin, steroids, or NSAID drugs, by binding to the connective tissue of the mucosal membranes, leading to rapid healing of ulcerogenic erosions.

Cardiovascular Disease

Experimental studies have recently discovered that oxidation of LDL cholesterol is a key factor leading to hardening of the arteries and heart disease.  Vitamin E has shown to be potent inhibitor of this oxidation.  Vitamin E prevents LDL oxidation because it is a powerful antioxidant.  PCO has been shown to be fifty times more potent than vitamin E in its role as an antioxidant.  It has been shown to prevent the stickiness of blood platelets that can lead to blood clots and strokes.

PCO can improve blood vessel elasticity and reduce elevated blood pressure.  Patients taking grape seed extract PCO have reported significant reductions in their blood pressure.

Prevention of Cancer

Although grape seed extract is not a cure for cancer, experimental evidence has been available for a long time showing that antioxidants like PCO greatly reduce the incidence of all types of cancer.  The risk of developing cancer is 11.4 times greater for those with low levels of the antioxidants vitamin E and selenium.

PCO may work with vitamin E to protentiate the body's ability to fight and prevent cancer by protecting cancer-fighters known as natural killer cells, PCO is also know to work synergistically with vitamin C to increase the length of time these cells are actively fighting cancer.

Tooth Decay and Gum Disease

Dentists have noticed the remarkable antioxidant action of PCO against tooth decay and gum disease.
