A NOTE FROM THE LEAD NET DOG
Building Relationships
It doesn't matter what you call it...
Direct Sales, Networking, Affiliate
Marketing, Network Marketing etc.
We are
all selling something!
When you go to an interview for a
job, are you not selling yourself?
Of
course you are! Too many people
today
cringe when they here the word SALES.
Well I'm here to change all that!!
Try changing the way you feel about
sales. Try looking at it the way
I do.
Being a Chemical Engineer, and always
selling people ideas, concepts,
equipment
or products. Has allowed me to step
back
and really discover what we are
actually
doing.
We are BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS.
Don't we always ask for business
cards,
phone numbers, or some form of contact
information to allow ourselves to
keep
in touch? We all do it! What I want
to
share with you, is how I actually
have been
able to not use personal business
cards.
This way I control everything and
especially
the follow up!!
Try it next time. When someone asks
you for
a business card, explain to them
you don't
use them. However, you would like
theirs. You
will get many different comments
back, but
in later issues of this newsletter
I will
show you follow up techniques that
can expand
your circle of influence (contact
base).

TECHIE SECTION........
Using Affiliate Programs to Test
Your Advertising Strategy
Advertising is an investment in your
company. Why
do companies advertise? To improve
their image, to
increase their customer base and
to make sales.
Why do most companies "really" advertise?
To
increase sales!
Think of how much money your company
spends on
advertising in a year. A three-month
contract in
the local newspaper can cost about
$2000 for an
1/8-page ad. A campaign on your
favorite radio
station can run up to $3000, an
ad in your state
magazine can run up to $7200 and
cable TV
advertising can cost even more.
Let's take a look at the world of
online
advertising. If you are advertising
on a major
portal, the minimum amount you would
invest is
about $2000. Advertising on smaller
targeted
oriented sites can still cost you
anywhere from
$60-$500 per month, depending on
the site's
traffic.
Whether online or off, unless you
have an
effective ad campaign in place,
your advertising
dollars are going to waste. Your
ads have to be in
the right place, at the right time,
with the right
sales message.
The Internet provides you with so
many effective
measuring tools that can't be found
in the offline
advertising world. You can actually
tell how many
people have viewed your ad, clicked
on it and if
they purchased something from you,
and you can
track it all in real time! You can
test! And you
don't need an ad agency or a web
"techie" to do
it!
Another way to advertise online is
through
Performance Based Marketing, also
known as an
affiliate programs. Performance
based marketing is
taking the industry by storm!. You
can actually
advertise your products and services
across
thousands of web sites while only
paying for
results! You can test which ads
increase traffic,
which ads sell and which ads are
a total flop!
Investing in an affiliate program
can drive
traffic to your site, increase your
audience reach
and increase your online revenue,
but probably the
most overlooked factor of an affiliate
program is
that it allows you to test your
ad campaigns
effectively, saving you time and
money.
Affiliate programs provide you with
the vehicle
and a captive audience to do just
that. Investing
in an affiliate program, even if
you don't make
one sale can be the most important
investment your
company will make in its online
advertising
strategy!
Why? Because affiliate programs
allow you to test
what works and what doesn't!
The key to any online advertising
strategy is to
"fail quickly", so you can then
test what really
works. Affiliate programs provide
you with the
vehicle and a captive audience to
do just that,
and the crime of it all is you can
do it without
paying any up front advertising
fees. You only
pay for ads that perform well enough
to give you
a qualified lead or generate a sale.
If you could do this in the offline
world, I know
a lot of newspapers and magazines
that would be
out of business right now! Chances
are very good
that while you are doing all that
testing, you are
going to make some sales as well!
Try Them Out...

WELLNESS SECTION........
Safeguarding Your Food
Every year, an estimated 7 million
Americans
suffer from cases of foodborne illness.
Some cases are violent and even
result in
death. Of course this is commonly
known as
"food poisoning." The culprit is
food that
has dangerously high levels of bacteria
due
to improper cooking or handling.
Food safety is usually taken for
granted by the
buying public but everyone's attention
was
recently directed to food poisoning
involving
some meat that was undercooked.
It was
determined that the problem never
would have
happened if the meat had been cooked
properly.
E.Coli 0157.H7 is a potent virus,
but it can be
completely destroyed when the meat
is fully
cooked. It is important for
consumers to take
an all-around safety approach to
purchasing,
storing and preparing both traditional
and new
meat and poultry products.
Ultimately, consumers and food handlers
bear the
responsibility for keeping food
safe once it
leaves the store. According
to the U.S.
Department of Agriculture, about
85 percent of
foodborne illness cases could be
avoided each
year if consumers would handle food
properly.
The most common foodborne illnesses
are caused
by a combination of bacteria, naturally
present
in the environment, and food handling
mistakes.
Ironically, these are also the easiest
types of
foodborne illnesses to prevent.
Proper cooking
or processing of raw meat and poultry
kills
bacteria that can cause foodborne
illness.
When you're out, grocery shop last,
take food
straight home to the refrigerator.
And never
leave food in a hot car! Don't buy
anything you
won't use before the use-by date.
Don't buy
food in poor condition. Make sure
refrigerated
food is cold to the touch. Frozen
food should
be rock-solid. Canned goods should
be free of
dents, cracks or bulging lids which
can
indicate a serious food poisoning
threat.
The performance and maintenance of
your
refrigerator is of the utmost importance.
Check
the temperature of your refrigerator
with an
appliance thermometer. To keep bacteria
in
check, the refrigerator should run
at 40
degrees F; the freezer unit at 0
degrees F.
Generally, keep your refrigerator
as cold as
possible without freezing your milk
or lettuce.
When you prepare food, keep everything
clean
and thaw out any frozen food you
plan to
prepare in your refrigerator. Take
it out of
the freezer in advance and place
it in the
refrigerated section of your refrigerator.
Always wash your hands in hot soapy
water
before preparing and handling any
food as well
as after you use the bathroom, change
diapers,
handle pets, etc. Remember, too,
that bacteria
can live in your kitchen towels,
sponges and
dish cloths. Wash them often and
replace the
dish cloths and sponges you use
regularly every
few weeks.
Be absolutely sure that you keep
all raw meats,
poultry and fish and their juices
away from
other food. For instance, wash your
hands, your
cutting board and knife in hot soapy
water
after cutting up the chicken and
before dicing
salad ingredients. You may want
to ad a couple
of drops of grapefruit seed extract
to the
water. It is known to eradicate
many types
of bacteria. It is best to use plastic
cutting
boards rather than wooden ones where
bacteria
can hide in grooves. Don't take
your food out
of the freezer and leave it on the
kitchen
counter to thaw. This is extremely
dangerous
since the bacteria can grow in the
outer layers of the food before
the inside
thaws. It is wise to do your marinating
in the
refrigerator too.
If you do get food poisoning, taking
about
one third cup of hydrated bentonite
in one
cup of water is helpful as it absorbs
a
great deal of the toxins and poisons.
